Hi friends!
I’ve recently quit FB, Twitter, and TikTok (haven’t quit IG yet because I like pretty pictures) so this space is my main online hang out. I plan to spend a lot more time here, so I decided to look at my stats for the first time recently to see if anyone else was hanging here with me. I was pleasantly surprised by how many people are stopping by and actually staying a while!
Seeing the stats made me realize that a lot of people are here, even though there isn’t a lot of back and forth in the comment section. And I get it, we don’t really know each other. I’m hoping to remedy that.
Since I’ll be sharing a lot more in this space, I’d love to know a bit about the people I’m sharing with, and who I hope will be sharing with me, too. So, I came up with some “get to know you” questions, and I’m hoping that if any of them speak to you, you’ll answer them. Some are two and three parters. Please feel free to answer any or all of them, whatever works for you!
What’s one form of art you’ve always wanted to try, but haven’t …yet?
What’s your sign? No, really, I want to know. And does your sign line up with how you see yourself?
Are you a morning person, or a night owl? What do you do during your brain’s most productive time of day?
Complete the following sentence:
In an alternate universe, I am ______________________________________________.
Is there a first step you can take in this universe toward making that life a reality?
Do you think you’ll do it? Or do you even want to make it a reality/ is the daydream enough / exactly what you need it to be?
I’ll go first:
David Bowie said that when he would get stuck while writing a song, he would paint. And by the time he’d finish a painting, he’d have a song. I have always wondered if pottery could be that thing for me where I could use a different part of my brain to feed my creativity. So, just today I ordered an at-home pottery starter kit. It should arrive in a few days. Eep! I’ll let you know how it goes.
I’m a Virgo. Critical, stubborn, overthinking. Check, check, and check. I like things just so, and I can always tell if someone has been in my space. I now have a kiddo, so the universe is having a good chuckle as I try to keep a tidy home. I’m actually laughing about it, too. It feels good to let go a little. Most of the time. ;)
I have some positive Virgo traits, too! I’m super reliable. If I say I’ll be there, I’m there. And I’m on time.(iykyk) If I say I’ll do it, it’ll get done. You can take that to the bank.
I’m creative - an actor who writes and draws cute pics.
I’m hard working - For over fifteen years I was a personal fitness trainer. Many actors need a day job, and fitness was always a passion of mine. I believe that working for yourself takes a heck of a lot of self discipline, which I thrive on. And I really don’t like having a boss that isn’t me.
I am SO a morning person. I set my alarm for 5:30 am and I usually spring awake before the alarm goes off. My brain starts working before my body does, and by 4:00 pm, it’s ready to wind down.
I try to write or read first thing in the morning, and I still train clients via Zoom (a lockdown leftover I have chosen to keep) in the wee hours.
During the time when my brain is at it’s sharpest, I’m packing a school lunch and snacks for my son, who is in TK (transitional kindergarten). I’m also feeding him breakfast, getting him dressed, and taking him to school. It’s a season, one that was not easy to come by, and I’m most grateful for it.
After school drop off, I try to write or draw and exercise before I pick my son up at 3:30 pm. All this is subject to change, of course, but this is my ideal.
In an alternate universe I am … a jazz singer. Maybe like Melody Gardot.
I love the idea of singing in a small lounge or dinner theatre setting. One hitch…I am not a singer, minus the occasional car concert. And I have a hole in my right eardrum left over from having tubes in my ears at the age of five. A vocal teacher once told me that the hole would be a problem as far as singing goes, so I let the daydream be just that, a daydream. Maybe one day I’ll get my nerve up, and make the time to take vocal lessons anyway, just for my own satisfaction.
My husband was a singer in a band when we met, and my mom was a mariachi singer before she was married, so if I’m being honest (and that’s all I really want to be here) I’m probably a bit intimidated, and I have that voice in my head saying “who do you think you are to try this thing?” We’ll see. We’ll see.
Now it’s your turn! I’m so happy you’re here, and I do hope we can get to know one another better. I can’t wait to read your responses!
I'm a Sagittarius Sun (dreamer, traveler, obsessed with the big questions), with a Capricorn rising and Virgo moon... I hear you on keeping things tidy, although as a kid I was as messy as anything. I feel both blessed and annoyed by those two earth signs anchoring my Sagi soul to the ground :) Look forward to seeing you here more!
Loved your answers to the questions, especially #1! I am so excited to hear how pottery goes.
1. I think less "want to try" and more "want to try harder". Whenever I draw, it brings me a calm I don't get from other things. It is FUN and it is just for me, in my sketchbook. No judgement, nothing. I want more of that.
I also want to commit to more stand up and improv, having neglected to do anything but dip my toes in a long, long time.
2. I am Aquarius and the most I can tell you, is that every time I see a meme about us I go "SO TRUE!" haha.
3. OH YOU KNOW I am a morning person (: we have very similar sleep schedules and that is why we are both so cool.
4. In an alternate universe, I am pursuing life with the confidence of a man. I could start faking it until I make it, but there is a fear that I would become arrogant if I did so I will stay where I am where I am kinder haha.
